Davide Bertagnolli holds a Ph.D. in "Literary, Linguistics and Philology Studies" from the University of Trento and has been teaching Germanic Philology since 2012. He researched and taught in England, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. His scientific publications stretch from the Old English "Beowulf" to Middle-Low German secular short stories, from the Middle-Dutch fables to modern rewritings of medieval texts. His book "Freidank. Die Sprüche über Rom und den Papst", published in Germany by Kümmerle, has won the 2015 Piergiuseppe Scardigli Prize, awarded by the Italian Association of Germanic Philology. In 2020 he published "I Nibelunghi. La leggenda, il mito"(Meltemi Editore), the first Italian monograph entirely dedicated to the Middle High German "Nibelungenlied", while in 2023 he prepared the Italian edition and translation of what is considered the oldest Arthurian romance in the Netherlands, the "Ferguut".
