PhD student at the University of Bologna since November 2025, his research focuses on nuclear thermal-hydraulics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) applied to reactor safety.

Education

He graduated in Energy Engineering (Industrial Engineering) in October 2022 from the University of Bologna with a thesis on the production of domestic hot water via a heat pump powered by a photovoltaic system with storage, developed using the TRNSYS software. In February 2025 he obtained his Master's degree in Energy and Nuclear Engineering, curriculum "Advanced methods and technologies for energy", with a thesis titled "Assessment, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of the thermohydraulic loop UPTF with the code CATHARE".

Research Activity

As part of his Master's thesis, he carried out research on the thermal-hydraulic simulation of the UPTF experimental facility using the CATHARE code, addressing topics such as uncertainty and sensitivity analysis and the study of LOCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) scenarios for nuclear reactor safety evaluation.

Currently, as part of his PhD, his research interests focus on the modeling of two-phase flows using two-fluid (Euler-Euler) approaches, using OpenFOAM and GeN-Foam, with the aim of validating and improving the simulation tools used in the nuclear field.

IT Skills

In his research and academic activities, he regularly uses computational and simulation tools such as OpenFOAM, GeN-Foam, ParaView, MATLAB, C++, Python, Salome, Code_Saturne, CATHARE, TRNSYS, Solid Edge, Wolfram Mathematica, and Protégé.
