Keywords: Sustainable mobility Magnetic properties of metallic materials Microstructural characterization of metallic alloys Mechanical characterization of metal alloys Magnetic characterization of electrical steels Microstructure - process - physical properties correlation

The research activities concern the development of Fe-Si steels for applications in the field of sustainable mobility, with a focus on:

  • chemical composition optimization;
  • optimization of rolling and heat treatment parameters;
  • correlation between production process parameters, microstructure and magnetic properties.

These activities are carried out using:

  • metallographic optical microscopy;
  • scanning electron microscopy - SEM with EDS and EBDS probe;
  • Single Sheet Tester - SST for the evaluation of magnetic properties;
  • mechanical tests (hardness, tensile tests);
  • data processing using Matlab and also with the use of the MTEX toolbox.

The final objective is the implementation of a digital model of the materials studied capable of identifying the chemical compositions and process parameters of the steels that guarantee the best magnetic performances for mobility applications.
