Cristina Li is a PhD student in Linguistics at the Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies of the University of Bologna.
Her work explores multilingualism in the context of migration, focussing on the phenomenon of heritage languages (HLs), the relationship between linguistic autobiography and identity construction, and the role of language policies in family and educational settings in the intergenerational transmission of HLs and in linguistic development of school-aged speakers. To date, she has investigated these topics within the specific context of the Chinese diaspora in Italy.
Her current research project includes the investigation of the narrative competence in the main languages of the repertoire of second-generation Chinese-origin pre-adolescents in Emilia-Romagna.
