Full professor of "Information processing systems" in the
Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of
Bologna, he teaches Machine Learning and Data Mining in the master programs of Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. He has been doing research since 1984 in the areas of
databases, information systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data
mining. He participated to several italian and international
research projects, and carried out also applied research projects
in cooperation with industries. He is author of more than 100 refereed
scientific publications and cooperates with international
institutions, such as University Federico Santamaria, Valparaiso,
Chile, and University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis.
For more than ten years he coordinated university programs in the areas of Statistic Sciences and Computer Engineering. He was advisor of eight PhD students and more than hundred graduated students for the master thesis.
Recently, Sartori has been involved in:
- UNA-Europa project for advanced education in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
- EULA-GTEC project, to strengthen scientific cooperation and increase the knowledge and technology transfer between European Union and Latin America
At present, Sartori is involved in the DARE project, that aims to help the Italian health service promoting and testing the possible contribution of digital technologies, starting with Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, in the search for appropriate, mature, sustainable and scalable solutions to support health promotion and prevention at every stage of citizens' lives.
Finally, Sartori is scientific director of the Master in Data Science and Business Analytics of the University of Bologna, offered by the Bologna Business School.
