Associate Professor of Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Bologna, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Heritage Science of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-ISPC), and Research Fellow at Durham University (UK) and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on the bioarchaeology of prehistoric and protohistoric societies across the central Mediterranean and the Danubian region, with particular emphasis on funerary archaeology from the Bell Beaker period to the Early Iron Age. He directs the excavations at Monte della Croce, Campo Pianelli, and the Bronze Age settlement of Solarolo–Via Ordiere, and is involved in several international research projects. His research interests also include prehistoric metallurgy and experimental archaeology, subjects he teaches through an annual laboratory for the Archaeology and Cultural Heritage degree programmes at the University of Bologna.
