Çiğdem Oğuz received her B.A. degree from the Department of History at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara. In 2011, she completed her M.A. studies at the Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. She has received her PhD degree in 2018 from Leiden University, Institute for Area Studies Turkish Studies Program and Boğaziçi University, Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History, under a co-tutelle agreement.
She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Naples Federico II, Department of Humanities for the PRIN project “War and Citizenship: Redrawing the Boundaries of Citizenship in the First World War and Its Aftermath”.
Her research interests include Ottoman social and intellectual history and state-society relations, citizenship studies, war studies, and women and gender in the Middle Eastern context.
