Dr. Cesare Sangiorgi
is Professor at DICAM. He works in the Transportation Infrastructures section of the Department and addresses themes related to the pavement engineering materials and innovative construction technologies. The use of recycled materials and low impact solutions are of primary importance in Cesare’s research and the collaboration with renown research institutes are the basis for the involvement of students at any level (PhD and MSc).
In the area of pavement materials the link with the Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre is running since year 2001 and was extended, since then, to other important research centeres in Europe and beyond.
Cesare Sangiorgi was Coordinator of SAFERUP! [https://site.unibo.it/saferup/en] an H2020 MSCA-ITN project based on Sustainable, Accessible, Safe, Resilient and Smart Urban Pavements, that foresees the recruitment of 15 Early Stage Researchers in the group of 30 participants of the consortium.
Since January 2023 he is Coordinating GreeNexUS a HORIZON EUROPE MSCA-DN project that proposes a novel and multidisciplinary approach to promote urban greening, territorial regeneration and safety/accessibility/walkability of urban infrastructures.
He is acting as Scientific Coordinator of a number of research agreements with private and public institutions at the national and international level.
He is an active member within national and international associations such as SIIV, APSE, iSMARTi and RILEM.
He is or has been member of a number of journal boards and committees for scientific conferences.
He is author and co-author of numerous papers in the field of pavement engineering together with experts from all over the world.
