Industry 4.0
Renewables energy plants: photovoltaic, heat pump, biomass and industrial processes. Experimental energy production plants have been designed, built and tested with the aim of studying the implementation of several renewable energy sources and identifying their real productivity. There are also technical and economic feasibility studies for the implementation of geothermal heat pumps in place of traditional thermal production plants and for the implementation of plant solutions for combustion of sludge from wastewater treatment processes in terms of energy and raw materials recovery.
Multiphase flow: Filtration, mixing, separation and transport. The research activity regards several sectors of multiphase flow in industrial plants. The design, construction and testing of a high efficiency and efficiency filter for the separation of solid particles from gaseous effluents from biofuels energy conversion plants has been carried out. An experimental pneumatic transport system has been also developed and tested for the characterization of granular solid solids; an innovative computing software, developed to support design, is able to predict the behaviour of pneumatic transport systems, with margins of uncertainty far below current standards; an experimental test will be carried on at Cervia’s harbour about an innovative dredging technology; the project is developed with important local companies.
Industrial plants maintenance. The research activity is about the analysis of methods able to improve the definition of maintenance plans and to minimize the risk of failure for the operation of industrial plants present in the area; the research is carried on analysing historical failure data and implementing monitoring technologies.
Industria 4.0. Research scope is to introduce plant solutions in manufacturing companies in accordance to "Industry 4.0" where the entire value chain is interconnected and the factory and supply chains are strongly integrated.
