Baran Özdemir

I am Baran Özdemir, a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical and Advanced Engineering Sciences at the University of Bologna.
During my undergraduate studies, I focused on metallurgy and materials engineering, working particularly on cast irons and their structural behavior.
In my master’s research, I explored additive manufacturing–based materials and their ballistic performance, combining experimental testing with material characterization.
My current doctoral work involves magnetic steels and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technologies, with an emphasis on modeling, data processing, and validation within a digital twin framework.
I am also interested in quantum computing, where I aim to develop basic energy models and simulation tools to better understand material behavior at different scales.
