Curriculum vitae

Academic profile
I am Baran Özdemir, a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical and Advanced Engineering Sciences at the University of Bologna.
My research focuses on the digital twin modeling and simulation of magnetic steel forming processes, as well as the study of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) applied to low-carbon steels.

Education
I obtained my M.Sc. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, with a thesis titled Comprehensive multi-scale evaluation of polymer-filled additive structures under ballistic loading.
During my bachelor’s studies, I worked on metallurgy and the mechanical properties of cast irons.

Research activity
In my Ph.D., I am developing digital twin models to understand and optimize the relationship between process parameters, microstructure, and mechanical behavior of magnetic steels.
In parallel, I am studying WAAM deposition of low-carbon steels through both numerical modeling and experimental validation.

Scientific interests
My interests include material modeling, numerical simulation, metal forming, and additive manufacturing.
As a side research topic, I explore molecular dynamics and quantum computing, focusing on Hamiltonian model construction and fermionic transformations for the quantum simulation of metallic materials.
