Assimo Maris is an Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry at the University of Bologna's Department of Chemistry, a position held since 2018. She joined the university as a researcher and lecturer in 1999, after earning her Chemistry degree in 1994 and a PhD in Chemical Sciences in 1998 from the same institution. Her research, rooted in quantum chemistry, employs spectroscopic techniques, quantum mechanical calculations, and data analysis to detect, recognize, and characterize matter constituents through both in-situ and remote sensing. She published 146 JCR articles and holds an H-index of 25 as of May 2025. Her current teaching activities include courses such as Physical Chem., Biomedical Chem., Lasers, Materials Spectroscopy, and Data Science for the Environment. She served as a visiting scientist at various international institutions, including the Institut de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble, the University of Valladolid, and the Elettra Synchrotron of Trieste.
