Associate Professor in Latin Literature. His main research interests are Augustan poetry; the reception of Latin poetry (e.g. Virgil, Ovid, Seneca); intertextuality.
Amongst his recent works: Didone regina di Cartagine di Christopher Marlowe: metamorfosi virgiliane nel Cinquecento, Roma, Carocci, 2015; Didone. La tragedia dell'abbandono. Variazioni sul mito (Virgilio, Ovidio, Boccaccio, Marlowe, Metastasio, Ungaretti, Brodskij), Venezia, Marsilio, 2017.
He is currently working on a new translation of Virgil's Eclogues (with a commentary) and on a commentary on Book 2 of the Aeneid for the Fondazione Lorenzo Valla (Mondadori).
In 2018 he was awarded the International Virgil Award ('Mantua') by the Accademia Nazionale Virgiliana, Mantova.
