Functional Position

Clinician and Trainee Tutor since 01-01-2008

Internship is the place where students learn the skills necessary for professional practice in contact with patients, tools and practitioners. The main objective of this position is to facilitate the trainee's learning of meta-skills, specific skills and technical-practical skills, with the help of teaching methodologies that capture the student's experience and involve him in the analysis of themselves.

Another objective is to try to develop its skills that it is able to adapt to the evolving dynamics of the context in which it is located or to move between the various contexts in which it has the opportunity to enter into its professional life by constructing and constantly transforming their patterns of knowledge and action as indispensable requirements to be a professional.

Teaching Didactics

Professor at the University of Bologna since 2011

Teaching Activities: Professional Laboratory 1-1cfu of the Bachelor Degree in Medical Radiology Techniques for Images And Radiotherapy

Aims:

The student during his first internship experience feels unprepared for professional practice due to the lack of confidence with the practical skills required and the fear of hurting the patient is one of the major causes of anxiety and fear. The student with this tool is able to engage the theory previously taught during the frontal lessons to professional practice. In the lab you acquire technical knowledge and learn how to use the equipment procedures the materials the methods and tools. It is the place where non-real situations or events are simulated, for example, patients with a certain clinical question who access a radiology service to perform an x-ray. In such situations, students will be asked to identify and dress the patients or the operator but without consequences on the actual patient because they will use a dedicated dummy. The student will be able to gain confidence and familiarity with the tools by seeking automation, controlling gestures, emotions by experiencing the mistake and trying to solve the problems inherent in a specific technical-practical question.

Teaching Didactics

Professor at the University of Bologna since 2017

teaching activity: CT Imaging Techniques 1-2cfu of the Degree Course in Medical Radiology Techniques for Images And Radiotherapy

Objective: At the end of the module, the student will have the technical, practical and methodological knowledge required to conduct a TC survey with appropriate protocols based on the clinical question of the patient about the pathology and type of equipment available.

Particular attention is paid to the issue of radiant dose to the patient and techniques to minimize it without impairing the diagnostic quality of the ALARA (As Low Reasonably Achievable) principle. To achieve this goal, the student should be aware of how to optimize the radiant dose and how to act on the scanning process to suitably modulate a set of parameters in order to achieve the best balance between the image quality required for a given diagnostic question and less radiant dose to the patient
