Research activity

Research Fellow at the Department of Architecture of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (February 2024). Carries out his research activity in the field of performance management of the built heritage by coordinating the BeTwin project "Building Digital Twin for Built Heritage Performance-based Management", AlmaValue 2023 call.

In 2023-2024, he collaborated on the research project DIGITMAN "Occupant-based DIGITal predictive MANagement to improve the built environment" (Research Projects of National Interest – PRIN 2022, Prot. 2022JMRX2A).

In 2023-2024, they collaborated on the Horizon Europe research project HERIT4AGES "User-centric and data-driven retrofitting solutions for a resilient, energy efficient, low-emission and inclusive cultural heritage" (Horizon Europe, GA No.: 101123175).

Education

PhD candidate in Architecture and Design Cultures at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna since 2020 (36th cycle). Conducts research in the field of renovation and informational modeling of existing heritage, with a research project titled "Towards Topology-oriented Digital Twins for Built Heritage Performance-based Management."

In 2023, he undertook a research period with collaboration abroad as a Visiting PhD Student at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University (UK), with a research project titled "Lightweight Topological Building Information Models for Built Heritage Management."

Graduated with honors in Building Engineering-Architecture (LM-4 C.U.) from the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna in February 2020, with a thesis titled "Parametric modeling for the assessment of deformation states of wooden trusses with an HBIM approach. The case of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna".

Teaching Activities

From 2021 to 2024, he was a tutor for the Bachelor's Degree in Architecture-Engineering, the Master's Degree in Building Engineering-Architecture, the single-cycle Master's Degree in Building Engineering-Architecture, and the Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.

Institutional positions

Since 2021, he has been an expert member of the Commission for the Engineer qualification, sec. A (Sector: Civil-environmental; Theme: Technical Architecture).

Other activities

Qualified to practice as an Architect (November 2020) and Engineer (June 2020) at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. Since 2019, he has collaborated with firms in the building and civil engineering sector, serving in various roles, including BIM consultant.

Awards and Honors

Winner of the Ar.Tec Innovati Award 2022, an award for scientific research and technological innovation aimed at PhD candidates in the field of technical architecture, sponsored by Ar.Tec (First place).

Winner of the eCAADe Grant 2022 and selected participant in the eCAADe 2022 PhD Workshop, an international award for PhD research candidates in the field of computational technologies for architecture, sponsored by the eCAADe (Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe) association and the KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture concurrently with the 40th eCAADe conference ("Co-creating the Future: Inclusion in and through Design"), held in Ghent, Belgium, 13-16 September 2022.

Winner of the Ar.Tec Innovati Award 2021, an award for scientific research and technological innovation aimed at PhD research candidates in the field of technical architecture, sponsored by Ar.Tec (First place).

Fellow at the Wessex Institute of Technology (Southampton, UK) since December 2021.
