Curriculum vitae

Born in Alfonsine on September 4th 1965. Married. Three children.

Education

In 1988 she graduated cum laude in Statistics and Demography at the Faculty of Statistics Bologna University

Academic career

In 1990 she became researcher in Statistics at the Faculty of Statistics Bologna University. She was Associate professor in 1998 and she has been full professor since 2000.

Academic roles

She has been the Dean of the Faculty of Statistics (Bologna University) in the period 2007-2012.

She has been the Head of the Department of Statistical Sciences Bologna University from 2015 to 2021.

She has been a member of the Senate of the University of Bologna since 2018.

She has chaired the degree program in Statistical Sciences and  in Statistics and social research in  the Faculty of Statistics Bologna University.

She has been the coordiantor of the Phd program in Statistics 2012-2015 and she is currently a member of the PhD board.

She has been the director of the second level Master program in Biostatistics and she is currently chairing the Lifelong Learning Program in Medical Statistics.

She has been a member of the Observatory of Research of Bologna University in the period 2001-04. 

She is currently representing the Univeristy of Bologna in the Self Steering Committee in Data Science and AI within the UNA Europa (2019-2022) and UNA Futura (2023-2026) Erusmus + program promoting University alliances.

She has been reserach evaluator for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Reaserch Council Canada and for the University of Queensland (Australia)

Roles in Scientific Societies

She has been scientific coordinator of CLADAG, (Classification and Data Analysis group of the Italian Statistical Society) in the period 2007-09

She has been President of the International Federation of Classification Societies IFCS 2020-22 and she is currently Past President.

She has been a member of the Board of the Italian Region of the International Biometric Society.

She is a member of the scientific board of the international Workshop MBC2.

She is a member of the working gorup on Model Based Clustering coordinated by prof. Adrina Raftery, University of Washington.

She is member of the Editorial Board of  ADAC (Advances in Data Analysis and Classification).

She is an official member the Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute.

Research activity

She has coordinated many research projects funded by the italian ministry of university and she has acted as referee for many national research projects.

She has worked on research projects funded within the Horizon 2020 call.

She is currently participating in the Extend Parnership on Precision Medicine funded within PNRR and in the project DARE on Digital Prevention funded within PNC.

She has participated to many international conferences, also in the role of Keynote speaker.

She has authored more then 100 publications. Her research is mainly focused on statistical methodology in the field of multivariate analysis, classification and statistical modelling. Some of her publications derive from interdisciplinary collaborations, mainly in the medical and biological field.

She has a wide network of  scientific and didactic international relationships with US, Canada, Australia and Europe aimed at favouring student's and young researcher's mobility.
