Curriculum vitae

Education

Born in 1981, Andrea Negroni, after the Scientific High School Diploma (in 200, 95/100 final mark), graduated (110/110 final mark) in Biotechnology (Industrial biotechnology) at the University of Bologna in February, 2006.

From January, 2007 to December, 2009 he was PhD student of the School in PhD “School in Biological, Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences” and in March, 2010 he got his PhD in “Cellular, Molecular and Industrial Biology” (project “Industrial microbiology and biotechnology”) at the University of Bologna, with a thesis entitled “Microbial reductive dechlorination of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in marine anaerobic sediments of the Venice Lagoon: enrichment and identification of the dehalogenating microorganisms”.

He performed is research activities at the Department of Applied Chemistry and Material Science of the Faculty of Engineering (DICASM), University of Bologna.

Academic Career

From March to December 2006 year he was appointee of a fellowship with the Interuniversitary National Consortium “Chemistry for the Environment” (INCA). Since April, 2010 until March 2012 he has been appointee of a two-years Postdoctoral fellowship and he worked at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Material Engineering (DICAM), Faculty of Engineering, University of Bologna. As PhD student he spent an internship period of 6 months (December, 2008 - May, 2009) at Gent University (LabMET – Laboratory of Microbial Ecology and Technology) – Belgium, and in that research group he spent additional 4 months (November, 2010 – February, 2011). Andrea Negroni has been employed as lab Technician at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM), Faculty of Engineering, University of Bologna, from 2012 until 2016.

From February 2017 to April 2018 he has been employed with a post-doctoral fellowship in the same Department (DICAM).

He is currently working in DICAM with a permanent contract as a lab Technician with chemistry expertise) at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM), Faculty of Engineering, University of Bologna.

Scientific activities

His research activity in Italy has been focused on the monitoring and quantification of different aerobic microbial processes in bioreactor, microbial bioconversions and anaerobic biodegradation processes of chlorinated organic xenobiotics in contaminated marine sediments, enzymatic biodegradation of pollutants/plastics making use of chemical, biochemical, microbiological and molecular biology based approaches by the employment of pure and mixed cultures. During the periods he spent abroad ha has been involved in research projects aimed at studying the dynamics and composition of microbial communities in complex systems.

Institutional assignments

Since 2015 until 2016 he has been one of the worker health and safety representative for the University of Bologna.

Since 2018 he is a member of the board of technicians and clerks of University of Bologna.
