Curriculum vitae

Independent researcher, playwright, director and actor, Andrea Brunello works at the boundary between theatre and science. Andrea has obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics at Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Physics at Stony Brook University (New York). While a university student, Andrea has attended several courses in acting and dramaturgy. He is also a graduate of the three year program “SAT - SCHOOL AFTER THEATRE advanced training program” led by the Russian director and pedagogue Jurij Alschitz and affiliated with the EATC/Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) of Moscow (Russia).

Brunello is the founder and director of the Portland Theatre of Trento and of the Arditodesìo Company. In 2012 he founded, with University of Trento physics professor Stefano Oss, the Jet Propulsion Theatre, a project that brings theatre and science together, carried out in coordination with the Laboratory for the Communication of the Physical Sciences of the University of Trento. From 2020, the Arditodesìo Company is lead partner of the Creative Europe project CURIOUS (Culture as a Unique Resource to Inspire, Outreach & Understand Science - projectcurious.org).

Together with his artistic engagements, Brunello teaches courses in science communication and outreach at the University of Trento and the University of Bologna (Italy) and is often invited to teach SciCom classes and workshops at other Universities and research Institutions.
