My prominent fields of scientific investigation involve the application of numerical methods and tools in solving structural design and industrial design problems. They are considered both at the basic and applied levels, especially in the presence of advanced materials, as fiber-reinforced composite. In particular, linear and non-linear static analyses, contact problems, non-linear constitutive laws of the material and large displacements in the context of implicit and explicit models are aspects under consideration during my activity. In addition, a special attention has been addressed to the experimental validation of numerical prediction by tests on material properties as mechanical and tribological strength. Representative research keywords are: machine elements; numerical modelling, Finite Element Methods; experimental mechanics; mechanical behavior of materials; composites and bio-composites; fibers and polymers; composite design and optimization; design of mechanical components; development of failure criteria; automotive. Finally, my R&D activity has been always characterized by a strict connection with the Industrial Sector and needs, both at a national and international perspective.
