Training and Professional Assignments

Prof. Conti studied at the "A. Corelli" Conservatory of Music and at the local grammar school "G. La Farina" in Messina, Italy.
He graduated in Medicine at the University of Messina in July 1997 (with honors)
He completed his Residency in Neurosurgery in 2002 (with honors).

-2007, European Board of Neurosurgery (FEBNS) issued by the European Society of Neurosurgery (FEBNS. Fellow of European Board of Neurological Surgery)
-2007  PhD in Neuro-oncology at the University of Messina (PhD)
Between 2006 and 2015 he held the role of University Researcher and Adjunct Professor at the University of Messina.

-2006-2015, Assitant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Messina, Italy

-2015-2019 Associate professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Messina.
-2018 "Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter" (Researcher) at the Neurosurgery of the Charité Universitastmedizin, the largest neurosurgery center in Europe.

-2019-to date Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Bologna, Italy

He obtained the qualification for Professor of I band SSD MED / 27 Neurosurgery in October 2018
Since January 1st 2019 he is Visiting Professor at the Neurosurgery of the Charité in Berlin

Training abroad

-2004 Observership at Southwestern University in Dallas, the University of Florida (Gainesville) and the University of Miami.

-2007 CyberKnife radiosurgery training in Sunnyvale (California).

He was a member of the faculty in the "Summer School" in Neuroanatomy and Neuroscience organized by the University of Messina in collaboration with the Viginia Commonwealth University of Richmond, Virginia in three editions (2006-2007-2011).

-2018 he held the role of “Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter” (Researcher) at the Neurosurgery of the Charité Universitätsmedizin, Berlin.

From 1 January 2019 he is Visiting Professor at the same institution

Scientific Activity and Awards

During his career he has developed an intense scientific activity being the author of over 150 indexed international publications in extenso  and over 200 not indexed publications.

He has lectured on over 70 occasions and has been invited speaker at various scientific institutions and international fora such as: The World Federation of Neurosurgery, the European Association of Neurosurgery, the Neurosurgical Society of Southeast Europe, the German Society of Neurosurgery, the .British Society of Neurosurgery, The Italian Society of Neurosurgery, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the European Society of Radiosurgery.

He has received the major national and international awards in the field:

National Prize "Tagliapietra" (awarded by the Italian Society of Neurosurgery),
"Beniamino Guidetti" International Award (awarded by the Italian Society of Neurosurgery)
Award for the best poster for the ESSFN (awarded by the European Society of Stereotaxic and Functional Neurosurgery),
EANS Aesculap Prize (awarded by the European Society of Neurosurgery).
Award for the best publication in the field of frameless stereotaxic radiosurgery awarded by the journal Cureus.
EANS Research Fund (awarded by the European Society of Neurosurgery).
He holds a patent in collaboration with STmicroelectronics for wearable equipment for the surgical treatment of M. di Parkinson's.

He is a member of the commission that confers the Board of Neurosurgery for the European Society of Neurosurgery (EANS).

Member of the European Society of Neurosurgery (EANS) Academy, responsible for the Radiosurgery Section
