-Conflicts, mafia wars and economics of organized crime (PhD thesis): lmy research focuses on the determinants of mafia-related violence (internal and external to the criminal organization) and the contrasting role of the state (economic repression vs law enforcement). In particular, I study the effects of state repression on conflicts within and between criminal organizations and the ensuing level of retaliation against the state, as well as the adoption of different kinds of non violent infiltration in the legal economy.
