From January 2019 associated professor at Math Department in the scientific field MAT/03 Geometry. My research activity is in the field of low dimensional topology, particularly, I am interested in knot theory and 3-dimensional manifolds. I am also interested in Mathematics Education and collaborate with the Group of History and Didactics of Physics of the University of Bologna.
Education
In 1999 I got the degree in Mathematics cum laude at the University of Bologna discussing a thesis in differential topology "Coomologia di De Rham" (supervisor Prof. Angelo Vistoli). In 2003 I got the PhD in Mathematics at the University of Bologna with a thesis on knot theory "(1,1)-nodi e gruppi ciclicamente presentati" (supervisor Prof. Michele Mulazzani).
Academic employments
From 2003 to 2009 I had a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna. From 2009 to 2012 I was adjunct professor (professore a contratto) at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna. From 2016 to 2019 I was fixed-term researcher at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna.
Teaching activity
From 2000 to 2009 I was teaching assistant for several courses of Mathematics for degree programs of the Schools of Engineering and Architecture, Science, Economics Management and Statistics (University of Bologna). From 2009 to 2012 I was instructor for the course Geometria for the degree program Ingegneria Edile ed Architettura (University of Bologna). From 2016 I am instructor for the course Linear Algebra of the degree program Stats and Maths. From 2016 I am instructor for the course of Didattica della Matematica for the second cycle degree program in Mathematics. From 2019 I am instructor for the course Geometria e Algebra, degree program in Mechanical Engineering, and Istituzioni di Matematica, degree program in Mechatronics Engineering. I was supervisor of many thesis (first and second cycle) in Mathematics and in Statistics.
Scientific activity
I took part to the national research program P.R.I.N. "Proprietà geometriche delle varietà reali e complesse". I am referee of international journals. I gave lectures in several international conferences and I was in the organizing committee of international conferences.
