After having participated, on international selection and
scholarship, at the ILAUD (International Laboratory of Architecture
and Urban Planning: teaching staff Peter Smithson, Richard Rogers,
Chistian Norberg Shultz) directed by Giancarlo De Carlo, Alessandro
Marata graduated in Architecture at the University of Florence,
1986. He carried out teaching activities in the degree courses of
Architecture in Florence, of Industrial Design in Milan, and of
Architecture-Engineering in Bologna. Currently his university
research activities are directed towards the fields of the
techniques and languages of representation and visual perception,
and that of the innovative and bioclimatic technologies. He
currently teaches at the Faculty of Architecture, Cesena, and is
the President of the Order of Architectsof the Province of
Bologna. He has worked professionally in the fields of new
construction, of restoration, of interiors, and of fiera
exhibitions. The works of design and construction are orientated
towards the satisfaction of the criteria for environmental
sustainability, for the containment of energy consumption for
personal comfort. He has won many awards and acknowledgements in
national and international competitions, among them: Honorable
Mention in the International Competition I.F.H.P. International
Federation for Housing and Planning"The city of the future,
possible forms and concept, Innovative ideas" Lisbon Paris;
Honorable Mention in the international "Low cost housing
competition" organized by the Pan African Development
Corporation, Washington; 4th Prize in the national competition
"Sun Design"; Special Mention in the national competition
"La casa a botte", Caserta; 3rd Prize in the national
competition "Idee per le piazze", Comune di Forlimpopoli; 1st prize
in the national competition "La nuova piazza Allende, Ozzano
dell'Emilia. In 2005 he was selected for the exhibition
'Italian Architects under 50' held at the seat of the
'Triennale di Milano'.
