Education

In 1996, Alessandro Albano obtained

a diploma in accounting from the Pier Crescenzi Technical Commercial Institute in Bologna, with a grade of 60/60. In the 2000/2001 academic year, he graduated in Law from the University of Bologna, discussing his thesis in Civil Law, with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. In November 2006, he participated in the competition for admission to the PhD program in European Tax Law at the University of Bologna, coordinated by Prof. Adriano Di Pietro. He was admitted, with a scholarship, to the 22nd cycle of the aforementioned PhD program. In 2011, he obtained his PhD in European Tax Law, discussing his thesis on “Administrative tax penalties between EU law and national regimes.” The Commission unanimously rated the doctoral thesis as “excellent.”

Teaching

From 2015 to 2021, he taught on the Master's Degree in Corporate Tax Law organized by the “L. Bocconi” University in Milan and, continuously since 2018, on the Master's Degree in Tax Law, Accounting, and Tax Planning organized by the LUISS Business School “G. Carli” in Rome.

Since the 2017/18 academic year, he has been teaching at the University of Bologna, Department of Business Sciences, Rimini Campus (and previously at the Department of Legal Sciences and the Department of Sociology and Economic Law).

Scientific activity

He participated in the MIUR - PON research project “Energy for the Environment” (PON RI 2014-2020; project code ARS01_00637) of the University of Bari “A. Moro.”

He is the author of numerous scientific contributions published in leading Italian and foreign scientific journals and of book chapters in collective works.

Membership in scientific and editorial committees

He has been a member of the editorial board of the journal “Strumenti finanziari e fiscalità” (Financial Instruments and Taxation), EGEA - Bocconi University in Milan since 2021, now published by PACINI Giuridica, since May 2025.

He has also been a member of the editorial board of the journal “Fiscalità patrimoniale” (Property Taxation) since 2025.

Institutional activities and academic appointments

In October 2025, he was appointed by the Minister of Economy and Finance as a member of the Technical and Scientific Council of the Control Room for the Strategic Coordination of the Capital Market, established within the Department of the Treasury.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation in Bologna, appointed by the Municipality of Bologna.

Finally, he is an associate member of the Italian Association of Professors and Scholars of Tax Law (AIPSDT).

Other activities

He has been qualified to practice law since 2006 (2004 session) and has been registered in the ordinary register of the Bologna Court of Appeal district since 2011.

in 2021, after passing the qualifying examination required by Article 22 of Law No. 247/2012, he was enrolled in the Special Register of Lawyers qualified to practice before the higher courts. He is also registered with the Bologna Bar Association in the list of lawyers specialising in tax, customs and international taxation law (Article 3(1)(e) of Ministerial Decree 144/2015).

Since 2014, he has been working with Studio Gnudi, dealing mainly with tax litigation and international taxation; previously (from 2011 to 2014) he was a consultant at an international tax firm. From 2004 to 2011, he served as a tax officer at the Italian Revenue Agency.

He is a standing auditor and Chairman of the Board of Statutory Auditors of several major corporations, including a payment institution supervised by the Bank of Italy, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of a company owned by local authorities and a member of the Board of Directors of an EIP.

He is a member of the IFA (International Fiscal Association) and the Bologna Chamber of Tax Lawyers; he is also a member of the National Association of Italian Tax Lawyers (ANTI) - Emilia-Romagna Section.
