EDUCATION

Graduated in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Bologna (Italy), November 10, 1982.

Ph.D. in Crop Sciences taken at the University of Bologna, June 23, 1987. Ph.D. dissertation on "Nitrogen fixation in Soybean-Rhizobium symbiosis".

 

FELLOWSHIPS

Doctoral fellow at the Laboratory for Biopolymers by the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (ETH) in Zürich (May 1986 - October 1987). Research topic: solubilization of bacteria and organelles in water-in-oil microemulsions.

Annual Post-Doctoral fellowship at the Istituto Biosintesi Vegetali, C.N.R., Milano (November 1987 - October 1988). Research topic: anaerobic metabolism in rice seedlings.

Post-Doctoral fellow at the Istituto per le Colture Industriali di Bologna (November 1988 - September 1990). Research topic: solubilization of enzymes and plant cells in water-in-oil microemulsions.

Annual Post-Doctoral fellowship at the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (ETH) in Zürich (October 1990 - September 1991). Research topic: solubilization of bacteria, yeasts, and organelles in water-in-oil microemulsions.

Since November 1998 Associate professor of Industrial Microbiology and Industrial Biochemistry by the Department of Chemical engineering (University of Bologna, permanent position).
