Case study - Implementing a plagiarism detection service: ways of working with staff and students

The session will outline how Turnitin was introduced to the University of Kent in 2006 and then implemented over the following academic year, including recent follow-up developments. The University Guidelines on Using Turnitin will be discussed, along with the use of specific Academic Integrity resources to support the use of Turnitin. There will be information about how staff are using Turnitin; how it has been received by students; the impact on reported instances of plagiarism (in specific Schools) and how staff view Turnitin in terms of workload and teaching academic writing.

Questa sessione descriverà a grandi linee come Turnitin è stato introdotto all’Università del Kent nel 2006 e implementato l’anno accademico successivo fino agli sviluppi più recenti. Verranno esposte le linee guida dell’ateneo sull’uso di Turnitin e in particolare l’utilizzo di risorse quali l’ “Academic Integrity” per supportare l’uso della piattaforma. Verranno date informazioni su come il personale sta usando Turnitin e come è stato recepito dagli studenti; l’impatto sui casi di plagio (in Scuole specifiche) e come il personale considera Turnitin in termini di carico di lavoro e insegnamento dell’Academic Writing.
