Tiziano Maestri is Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Bologna. His research focuses on atmospheric radiative transfer, cloud and aerosol remote sensing, and hyperspectral satellite observations, with particular emphasis on the far- and mid-infrared spectral region. He is one of the proposers and developers of the European Space Agency FORUM mission (Far-infrared Outgoing Radiation Understanding and Monitoring), for which he leads and coordinates several scientific and modelling activities. His work combines radiative transfer modelling, machine learning applications for cloud identification and classification, all-sky retrieval techniques and greenhouse gas observations from satellite platforms. He has coordinated and participated in numerous ESA, ASI, and MUR funded projects and has extensive international collaborations with research institutions in Europe, the United States, Japan and Brazil. He is actively involved in teaching, international training schools, and scientific outreach activities in atmospheric sciences.
