Virginia Vignali

Service Designer, PhD in Design Cultures and member of the Advanced Design Unit, at the University of Bologna, since 2022.

Her research interests concern the development of theoretical and practical models of interaction between human agents and artificial intelligence, with particular attention to the participatory and collaborative design of tools that enable human intervention in the decisions of algorithmic systems, within the framework of "Contestable AI." Her work explores how co-design approaches, actively involving users, experts, and other stakeholders, can contribute to more ethical, transparent, and negotiable technological systems. In the course of her research, she has developed an interest in methodological approaches guided by Design Cultures that move beyond the concept of Human-Centered design and include artificial agents within More-than-Human theories.
