Research field: Quaternary Stratigraphy and Sequence Stratigraphy, Palaeoecology applied to Quaternary Geology and Geoarchaeology.

The research activity aims to decipher the late Quaternary depositional and palaeoenvironmental evolution of Mediterranean plains at different timescales (from Milankovitch to millennial and sub-millennial scales) in response to natural and human-induced forcing factors, adopting a stratigraphic-based integrated approach. The research tools include sedimentology and micropalaeontology (benthic foraminifers, ostracods and palynomorphs) with the contribution of facies analysis and sequence stratigraphy concepts.
