Dr. Valeria Cavaliere obtained her degree in Biology from the
Università di Napoli (1990) and she continued her research on
developmental genetics of Drosophila with a fellowship from
the Istituto Internazionale di Genetica e Biofisica, C.N.R., in
Naples (1988-1993). Dr. Cavaliere received a Ph.D. in Cellular
Physiology and Biology from the Università di Bologna (1993-1997).
At present she is research associate in Genetics at the
Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnologies, University of
Bologna (from 1988). Her research activity, focusing on molecular
genetics of Drosophila development and on Drosophila
modeling of human disease genes, involves collaboration with
research groups of foreign universities. Dr. Cavaliere spent a
period as a visiting scientist at the Medical University of South
Carolina, Charleston, USA in the laboratory of Prof. Tien Hsu and
at the Department of Biology of the McGill University, Montreal,
Canada in the laboratory of Prof. Paul Lasko. Her teaching activity
includes "Developmental genetics"
"Molecular Genetics of Development with laboratory", Cellular
and Molecular Biology master degree, University of Bologna.
