Short Bio

Valentina Antoniol is a Tenure Track Researcher (RTT) in Political Philosophy at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna.

She earned her Ph.D. in Political Philosophy at the University of Bologna, in joint supervision with the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She has carried out research activities at several universities, including EHESS, Brown University, the New School, and CUNY, and has also been a researcher at the University of Bari.

Her research lies at the intersection of political philosophy, Foucauldian studies, and feminist theory, with a particular focus on war, conflict, and forms of political subjectivation.

She is the author of Foucault critico di Schmitt. Genealogie e guerra (Rubbettino, 2024) and Foucault et la guerre. À partir de Schmitt, contre Schmitt (Mimésis, 2023).

She is a member of the Italian Society for Political Philosophy (SIFP) and the Italian Society for Critical Theory (SITC), as well as of the LIER-FYT research center (EHESS, Paris) and the Institute for the Humanities at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.

First semester (October–December 2024): office hours will take place on Tuesdays from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Appointments must be arranged via email with the lecturer.

Second semester (from mid-February 2026 to mid-May 2026): office hours will be scheduled according to the teaching timetable.
