A full professor at the University of Cologne since 2018 and at the University of Bologna since 2023, Tommaso Calarco conducts his research in the field of quantum optimal control for quantum technologies, bridging the gap between theory and experiment. His research interests revolve around harnessing the power of quantum systems through precise manipulation and control. By developing innovative theoretical frameworks and computational tools, he aims to optimize the performance of quantum devices, such as quantum computers, quantum simulators and quantum sensors. Through close collaboration with experimentalists, he strives to implement and validate his theoretical findings, pushing the boundaries of quantum technologies and advancing our understanding of quantum phenomena.
