The CRBA was designed on a virtuous model of cutting-edge European Research Centers. The Center was created to accommodate, satisfy and integrate the needs of the various university and hospital research groups, with the goal of sharing and optimizing human, technical-instrumental and economic resources available for applied biomedical research. The CRBA contributed as a Facilities Laboratory to achieve the IRCCS status for the AOU of Bologna, supporting the Areas subject to Ministerial Visit. The laboratory is going to obtain Quality Certification according to UNI EN ISO 9001: 2015
