Curriculum vitae

Dott. Stefano Ferroni was born in Turin, Italy, the 27th February 1960

In the 1987 he got his Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Genoa, Italy

In the 1988, he got a postdoctoral position at the Department of Neuromorphology of the Max-Planck-Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried Planegg (Germany)

From 1990 to 1992 he worked as postoctoral fellow at the Department of Biology of the University of California in San Diego (USA)

In 1992 he got a position as assistant professor in Physiology at the University of Bologna working in the Department of Human and General Physiology.

Since 2006 he is associate professor in Physiology in the Department of Human and General Physiology of the University of Bologna

 

Teaching duties:

Since 2006 he has teached Physiology is several courses of the Faculty of Farmacy

 

Research activity:

Analysis of the structure-function relationship of ion channels

Physiological and pathophysiological roles of glial cells in the regulation of the activity of the central nervous system

 

Reviewer activity:

Since 1994 he has served as reviewer for diverse scientific journals: Brain Res.; Neurosci. Lett.; Exp. Brain Res, Eur. Biophys. J.; Neurosignals, Br. J. Pharmacology, Brain, Neuroscience, J. Neurochemistry

He also was reviewer for grant agencies: National Science Foundation (NSF, USA), National Agency for Scientific Research of the Czech Republic, Medical Research Council (MRC, UK), FWF (Austria)
