Short Bio

Associate Professor at the University of Bologna since 2019, specializing in Biomedical Engineering. With a profound passion for advancing healthcare technologies, his research primarily focuses on Computational Biomedical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. His particular expertise lies in the areas of neurological and lung diseases. Currently, his work is dedicated to exploring the potential of deep learning techniques for analyzing medical data and developing innovative approaches to quantify the structural complexity of the brain using fractal geometry. As a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), he is involved with the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. He has co-authored over 120 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, he serves as the principal investigator or leads a research unit for several projects supported by both public and private entities.
