Stefano Boero conducts research in the political, cultural, and religious history of the early modern period (sixteenth–eighteenth centuries), with particular attention to the circulation of ideas, welfare and charitable practices, the history of epidemics, and religious institutions. He holds a PhD in History: Cultures and Structures of Border Areas from the University of Udine and a Diploma in Archival Studies, Paleography, and Diplomatics from the State Archives of Rome. He has obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor (M-STO/02). A former research fellow at the University of L’Aquila, he has carried out research at international institutions including the Instituto Universitario Simancas, the Instytut Studiów Europejskich, and the University of Zadar. He is the author of monographs and numerous scholarly publications, a member of academic societies such as SISEM, SISSD, and the Deputazione Abruzzese di Storia Patria, and serves on editorial boards of Area 11 journals.
