Simonetta Mascia is a first year PhD candidate in Public governance, Management and Policy at the University of Bologna. Her current research focuses on the topic of Local Governments resilience and Financial Vulnerability.
She received her first Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2021 at the University of Cagliari and a Master’s in Accounting in 2023 at the University of Bologna.
During her Bachelor’s degree she undertook an internship which lasted eight months in a firm of chartered accountants. For her Master’s, she carried out a five months internship within the “Metropolitan city of Bologna” council, one of the biggest local government bodies in Emilia-Romagna. For her MA thesis, she focused on procedures for the enforced collection of local taxes.
She then decided to follow an academic career, focusing on a topic that combined her research interests with her prior background and knowledge.
Together with her peers, Simonetta recently won a prize best project work from the Department of Management at the University of Bologna.
