Simone Tonelli

I am a research fellow in economic sociology and Principal Investigator of the project Social Investment and Technological Change: Mitigating Inequality in the Knowledge Economy (SINTECH) at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Bologna, since December 2024. From December 2026, I will continue as Principal Investigator of the project AI Usage Strategies: Policy, Institutions and Consequences in Europe (AUSPICE), funded by the Horizon MSCA 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowship, at the same department. Since December 2025, I have been a member of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence EUFutures. Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh and a doctoral researcher at the University of Bremen, where I obtained my PhD in Political Science in 2022. My research fields are comparative political economy and comparative public policy, with a focus on technological change, inequality, redistribution, education, and training.
