Simone Muzzioli

PhD student (41st cycle) in Stratigraphic Geology and Sedimentology at the University of Bologna, enrolled in the Earth, Life and Environmental Sciences (STVA) program. My doctoral project, "Role of marine gateways and straits on climate, carbonate factory and sediment distribution", investigates the possible influence of the Atlantic Water Inflow (AWI) on the development of Pliocene-Pleistocene mixed siliciclastic–bioclastic systems in the central and western Mediterranean after the Messinian Salinity Crisis. The study integrates field and core facies analyses with petrographic, micropaleontological, and geochemical investigations.

My PhD supervisor is the Professor Domenico Chiarella and my co-supervisor is the Professor Sergio Longhitano.
