Simona Maria Pagano is a PhD candidate in Arts, History, and Society at the University of Bologna (supervisor Prof. Francesco Spampinato). She collaborates as a moderator with the
UNA Europa Virtual Exchange program and the graduate student workshop
AVEC (Arts, Visuality and Electronic Culture), organizing events on art, visual, and digital culture in relation to the post-pandemic condition. She has been tutor for the Summer School in
Climate Change: Artistic Interventions and Alternative Futures. She holds a degree in
Arts, Museology and Curatorship with a thesis in collaboration with the University of Helsinki on Sámi artistic responses to climate justice. Her research focuses on eco-futurisms and artistic and media speculations that intertwine environmentalism, dystopia, and possible futures, exploring how art and media practices can imagine and prototype sustainable futures through decolonial, transfeminist, and speculative approaches, integrating theoretical and practical methods in local and global contexts.
