Silvano Martello

Silvano Martello, Full Professor of Operations Research at the University of Bologna since 1994 (since 2020, Professor Emeritus), carries out research in the field of mathematical programming and combinatorial optimization. He has obtained significant results in the area of exact and approximation algorithms for the solution of packing, routing, knapsack, assignment, and scheduling problems. Engaged in national and international research projects, he collaborates with various European institutes. Author of over 200 publications, he has received prizes and awards from prestigious Centers and Institutes. Since 1997 he has chaired the European Chapter on Combinatorial Optimization. In 2012 he was named IFORS Distinguished Lecturer. In 2018 he was awarded the EURO Gold Medal. Go to the Curriculum vitae
