Adjunted Professor of “Special financial operations “ at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (since September 2026).
He was Full Professor of Corporate Finance at the same university from November 1990 to October 2025.
He is currently Scientific Director of the Executive Master in Corporate Finance at the Bologna Business School (since 2025) and member of the Board of Statutory Auditors of Manifatture Sigaro Toscano S.p.A. (since 2018).
During his academic career, he has held numerous institutional positions at the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna. He served as Vice Rector – Responsable for Financial Budget from 2012 to 2015, Dean of the Faculty of Economics from 2002 to 2008, and Director of the Department of Economics and Business (now Department of Management) from 1994 to 2000. He also served on the Board of Directors of Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna from 2008 to 2012 and on the University Council from 2008 to 2011, as Chairman of the Budget and Planning Committee. From 2015 to 2023, he was a member of the Bologna Business School Foundation Assembly.
He was Associate Professor of Corporate Finance at the University of Ancona from 1987 to 1990, Researcher at the Department of Economics and Business at the University of Bologna from 1983 to 1987, and Adjunted Professor in Corporate Finance at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome from 1995 to 2002. In 1982, he was “Visiting Scholar” at the Department of Finance of New York University.
He has been actively involved in governance bodies of institutions and companies. From June 2010 to March 2022, he was a member of the Board of Statutory Auditors of the Bank of Italy. From 2005 to 2011, he was a member of the Board of Statutory Auditors of BolognaFiere S.p.A. and his subsidiaries, including BF Servizi, Convivia, Ferrara Fiere Congressi , and SoGeCos. From 2000 to 2004, he served as "Independent" member of the Board of Directors of Saeco S.p.A., a company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
He was also member of the Board of Auditors and Board of Directors of AIDEA – the Italian Association of Business Economics Teachers.
He provides consulting services in the areas of business valuation, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
