Full professor of Orthopedic and Traumatology and of Physical
Medicine at the Bologna University since 1989.
He is director of the Clinic I at the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli
and of the Gait Analysis Laboratory.
He is partner in European projects and in national and
international research programs.
Author of more than 600 presentations in national and international
meetings and more than 400 papers in Science Citation Index
journals.
He is the President of the Italian Society of Foot and Ankle
(SICP).
He is past IFFAS president (International Federation of Foot and
Ankle Societies) and is member of IFAS, EFAS, AOFAS, AAOS,
EFORT and ICRS. He is furthermore member of the American College of
Foot and Ankle Surgeons of the Brasilian Foot and Ankle
Society.
He is editor of the scientific journals:

“Foot and Ankle Surgery” (official journal of the European Foot and
Ankle Surgery Society)
“Musculoskeletal Surgery- formerly La Chirurgia degli Organi di
Movimento”
During his long practice he went
deep into the innovation of many different fields of orthopaedic
surgery, creating a reabsorbable device for the surgical treatment
of the flat foot, the “one step technique” for cartilage repair and
a new design of Ankle Prosthesis.
