Research Fellow at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences of the University of Bologna since March 2026. He conducts his research within the framework of the European project SYNTHIA, focused on the generation of synthetic data in the healthcare domain through advanced Artificial Intelligence methodologies, with particular reference to medical imaging, histopathological images and structured and longitudinal clinical data.
Education
Graduated in Physics at the University of Bologna in 2023 with a thesis in Italian entitled “La Tomografia Computerizzata con Raggi X applicata ai Beni Culturali: i reperti della Tomba di Kha”, obtaining a final grade of 105/110. He subsequently obtained a Master’s Degree in Physics at the University of Bologna in 2025, with a thesis in English entitled “Conditional Flow Matching for Medical Imaging and Data Synthesis: Methods, Applications and Evaluation”, graduating with a final grade of 110/110 cum laude.
Scientific Activity
His research activity, supervised by Prof. Gastone Castellani, specifically concerns the development and analysis of mathematical and computational models for the representation of complex biomedical data, the application of such models to the generation and integration of multimodal synthetic data through approaches based on continuous normalizing flows, optimal transport techniques and conditional generation.
It also concerns the definition and evaluation of quantitative quality metrics for synthetic data in terms of statistical fidelity, practical utility, robustness, bias, privacy protection and downstream applications such as classification models or survival prediction models.
These activities are also used for the preparation of project deliverables, technical reports and scientific publications related to the main use cases addressed.
