Current position

Junior Assistant Professor at the University of Bologna since 2021. His research focuses on climate dynamics, monsoons, and hydroclimatic extremes in the context of climate change.

He is also the Junior Assistant Professor of Climate Dynamics and Change at the Bologna Business School.

Responsibilities in research grants

  • 2024-26: UNIBO co-PI of the PRIN 2022 funded project "Evaluating the changing risk of cyclones for Italian precipitation extremes" (ENCIRCLE).
  • 2022: Participant of the newly funded EU HORIZON TRIGGER project and one of the coordinators of WP5.
  • 2016: Part of the research team of the NASA-funded project "Understanding changes in High Mountain Asia"
  • 2014-2016: PI of the NOAA Climate and Global Change Fellowship. Individual and highly- competitive postdoctoral fellowship (UCAR Visiting Scientist Programs).

 

Honors and awards

  • 2019: WMO/WWRP awarded me full travel support to attend the Workshop on Attribution of Monsoon Rainfall Climate Change in Sun Yat-sen University, Zhuhai, China.
  • 2018: I have been invited to write a review paper for Current Climate Change reports on “Current and future variations of the Monsoons of the Americas in a warming climate”.
  •  2014-2016: NOAA Climate and Global Change Fellowship. Individual and highly competitive postdoctoral fellowship. Funding agency: UCAR Visiting Scientist Programs, Boulder CO. Proposal: Gulf Surges and large-scale waves: representation in climate models and their implications for the North American Monsoon. Role: Principal Investigator.
  • 2007-2011 The Reading Meteorology International PhD Studentship. Full support for tuition fees, subsistence, travel and publication costs for postgraduate study in the U.K. Funded by the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, UK.
