Since October 2022 - Fixed-term Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" (DEI), University of Bologna - Italy.

Since October 2016 - Fixed-term Junior Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" (DEI), University of Bologna - Italy.

From April 2013 to September 2016 - working in a postdoctoral trainee program at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering  "Guglielmo Marconi" (DEI), University of Bologna - Italy.

Since January 2016 - workpackage leader within the multidisciplinary project PreventIT (EU-H2020, www.preventit.eu/). The main objective of PreventIT is to develop a mobile technology-based, personalised behavioural change intervention at the time of retirement that is based on exercises and activities that are embedded into daily life, in order to enable active and healthy ageing.

From January 2012 to March 2015 - workpackage leader within the multidisciplinary project FARSEEING (EU-FP7, farseeingresearch.eu) aimed to promote better prediction, identification and prevention of falls with a focus on ICT devices and the unique proactive opportunities they can provide to older adults to support them in their own environment.

Since January 2011 - Italy-US bilateral research project with the Oregon Health & Science University (Department of Neurology, Portland, Oregon, US): "Wearable instruments for assessing balance and gait disorders". Project funded by Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

From January 2010 to December 2012: PhD in Bioengineering, Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (DEIS), - Faculty of Engineering - University of Bologna - Italy. Principal subjects/occupational skills covered: Development of models and algorithms for the assessment of motor function by means of inertial sensors, linear and nonlinear signal processing methods, design of experimental assessment protocols, technical and clinical validation. Smartphone-based Personal Health Systems. Work carried out in collaboration with the Department of Neurology of the Civil Hospital S. Agostino Estense of Modena and the Neurological Clinic of the Department of Neurological Sciences, University of Bologna.

From Frebruary 2009 to December 2009: Research Assistant, Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (DEIS), - Faculty of Engineering - University of Bologna - Italy. Principal subjects/occupational skills covered: Implementation of on-line and off-line algorithms for activity recognition, definition of clinically relevant parameters and indexes.

December 2008 - Master of Science - Electrical Engineering oriented to Biomedical Engineering. Experimental thesis in Biomedical signal and data processing: Design of an experimental protocol for the assessment of movement disorders in patients with Parkinson's disease by means of inertial sensors. Characterization of inertial systems. Development of ad hoc wireless communication protocol. Development of algorithms, signal processing methods, and feature extraction.. Statistical analysis and interpretation of the results. Activities carried out at the Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (DEIS) in collaboration with the Department of Neurology of the Civil Hospital S. Agostino Estense in Modena.
