Ronaldo is a PhD candidate at the University of Bologna in Italy, investigating the molecular and biological mechanisms underlying biocontrol efficacy against the phytopathogens Erwinia amylovora and Stemphylium vesicarium. His research employs integrated molecular approaches to characterize antagonistic bacterial isolates, elucidating their virulence suppression mechanisms through comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses of virulence and biocontrol-related gene expression using temperature-dependent functional assays to decipher the biochemical and genetic basis of bacterial antagonism.
His doctoral work is conducted as part of a European collaborative research project involving the University of Porto in Portugal and Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Life Science and a Master of Science in Microbiology from South Korea.
