A PhD student at the University of Bologna since 2024, carrying out research in the field of electrical engineering with a specific focus on insulating materials for HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) cable systems and on lifetime modelling of extruded insulation.
Scientific interests include the electro‑thermal ageing of polymeric materials, Accelerated Life Tests (ALT), and the characterization of innovative polypropylene‑based materials for HVDC applications.
Current research is mainly dedicated to the Horizon Europe project NEWGEN (Grant Agreement No. 101075592), which investigates sustainable insulating materials for HVDC cables and develops predictive models for long‑term performance assessment.
Education
Completed a Master’s Degree in Electrical Energy Engineering at the University of Bologna in 2024, with a thesis focused on the characterization of space charge in polymeric materials for HVDC insulation.
Currently enrolled as a PhD student in the Programme in Biomedical, Electrical and Systems Engineering (IBES), cycle 40, with research centered on lifetime and reliability models for extruded HVDC cable systems.
Scientific Activity
Participation in national and international research projects, including:
- NEWGEN (Horizon Europe) – Work Package 4: activities dedicated to analysing the ageing of polymeric materials for HVDC cables, modelling degradation processes, and comparing XLPE (cross‑linked polyethylene) with innovative polymeric blends.
- ALT data fitting and electro‑thermal modelling, carried out in collaboration with international academic partners, including Tampere University, with particular focus on the processing of complex experimental datasets and the development of predictive lifetime models.
