Education
1983 - Licensed at Liceo Ginnasio "Marco Minghetti" (Bologna)
1991- Degree in Biological Sciences, Maxima cum Laude, after discussion of a Thesis about the "Characterization of morphogenetic mutants mapping on the third chromosome in Drosophila melanogaster ". Advisor Prof. Ferruccio Ritossa
1992/1995 - PhD student in Genetics (PhD School of Genetics - Universities of Ferrara, Bologna, Parma, Padova, Pisa) after discussion of a thesis about "Characterization of the Drosophila melanogaster wing-blister gene: genetic and molecular analysis". Advisor Prof. Sandro Cavicchi.

Professional activity
1989-1990 I have been working at the induction, isolation and characterization of Drosophila mutants in the laboratory of Genetics (University of Bologna, Italy); advisor Prof. Ferruccio Ritossa.
1991- I have been working in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics at the University of Bologna, collaborating to a chromosome walking on the third chromosome of Drosophila melanogaster; Advisors Prof. Ferruccio Ritossa and Prof. Anna Angela Algeri.
1992-1995 I have been working in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics (University of Bologna -Italy) as PhD student in Genetics attending to genetic and molecular analysis of the wing-blister (wb) locus of Drosophila melanogaster, advisor Prof. Sandro Cavicchi.
1996 (till July 1996)- I have been still working at the characterization of the D. melanogaster wing-blister gene as free researcher in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics (University of Bologna - Italy).
1996 (September)-1999 (September) - Postdoctoral Training - I joined the Dr. Angela Giangrande's group at the IGBMC (Institut de Génétique et de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire-ILLKIRCH, c.u. de Strasbourg, France) where I have undertaken studies on genes involved in early determination of glial cell fate and control of glial cells differentiation.
2000-2005 I have joned the Prof. Giuliano Della Valle's gorup funded as “Assegnista di Ricerca” working at: i) p75NTR neurotrophin receptor's roles in neuronal cell survival, differentiation and death; ii) Molecular characherization of DNA-protein and protein-protein interactions of CENP-A and CENP-C in human centromeres.
2005-2013, recruited as research associate and lecturer of Genetics at the Dpt. of Evolutionary and Experimental Biology (BES), University of Bologna.

2013-to date, research associate and lecturer of Genetics at the Dpt. of Pharmacy and Biotechnology (FaBiT) University of Bologna.
