Roberto Balestri

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Bologna, supervised by Prof. Guglielmo Pescatore and co-supervised by Prof. Mirko Degli Esposti. My research explores how generative AI can support media studies, with applications ranging from automated narrative analysis of TV series to trailer generation, recontextualization of audiovisual archives, thematic content analysis, and credit extraction. I also investigate gender and content biases in large language models. My work has been presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals, aiming to provide both methodological tools and critical reflections on AI’s role in audiovisual research.
